Hill Country is the invaluable treasure of Sri Lanka. Many rivers take their rise from this hill country and flow through the plains and reach the sea. Sri Lankan tea is world-famous and is the main cash crop planted by British rulers in 1863. Before the plantation, they tried coffee unfortunately all the coffee plants died of coffee pests. The entrepreneur James Taylor imported the first tea plant from Cathay and succeeded.
