Adam’s Peak
Adam’s Peak, 7260 feet triangular-shaped mountain could be reached from Nuwaraeliya in one and a half hours leisure drive. Adam’s Peak is a sacred worship place for four religious groups. The large foot imprint at the top of the mountain is the specialty.
The Buddhists claim the footprint of Lord Buddha, The Hindus claim the footprint of Lord Shiva. The Muslims consider it to be that of Adam. The Christians claim that of St. Thomas the Apostle who prayed on top of this summit. Adam’s Peak is the only place where all these four religious people surge together indiscriminately.
The pilgrim season is from December to May. The ideal time to climb the steps around is 2 am to reach the summit before Sunrise. The view of Sunrise from the peak will ever remain in your mental picture.
